about us
The Edmonton Inner City Housing
Society (EICHS) is a community-based non-profit housing
developer and property manager. We were incorporated
in 1983 and registered as a charitable organization soon
after. We have active volunteer involvement on our
board, and ad-hoc working
committees on special programs and
events.
The membership of EICHS is
composed of:
-
residents of the inner city
-
representatives of community agencies
-
concerned lay and professional community workers
-
religious-based organizations of various denominations
-
individuals with a general interest and concern about
Edmonton's inner city
Our goals of incorporation are:
- To
obtain, provide, and maintain stable and affordable
non-profit housing and related services which provide
assistance to the disadvantaged and low income people of
the Edmonton Inner City.
- To inform
and educate tenants who are or who will be housed by the
Society:
a. about the housing alternatives available
b. about the necessary skills to maintain housing
accommodation
and to better stabilize the housing environment.
- To carry
out other or additional tasks that further the
objectives of the Society by encouraging and maintaining
contact with other inner city individuals, community,
church and agency organizations in order to better
assess and respond to the changing housing needs of the
low income people of Edmonton's inner city.
We are supported by donors,
volunteers, board members and Society members. We
welcome financial and/or volunteer support from any
organization or individual who is committed to supporting
the housing needs of Edmonton's inner city residents.
